Station 1: Jumping Salt
1. Read the following Big Idea:
2. There should be a small bluetooth speaker inside a tin can that has plastic wrap and salt on top of it.
3. Turn the volume to low on the iPad.
4. Press play on the Moana song.
5. Turn the volume to high on the iPad.
6. Press play on the Moana song.
7. Watch the rice jump on top of the plastic wrap!
Station 2: Whorly Tubes
1. Read this Big Idea:
2. Make sure you have space to spin the whorly tube around in circles without hitting anyone.
3. Spin the whorly tube lightly (with low energy), listen to how loud the sound is.
4. Spin the whorly tube hard (with high energy), listen to how loud the sound is.
Station 3: Laser Light and Milk
1. Read the Big Ideas:
2. Shine the low power laser light through the water bottle filled with water and milk.
3. Observe how much of the light is able to pass through the water.
4. Shine the high power laser light through the water bottle filled with water and milk.
5. Observe how much of the light is able to pass through the water.
6. Answer the lab questions.
Station 4: Tuning Forks and Water
1. Read the Big Ideas:
2. Fill a plastic container with water.
3. Take a tuning fork and hit it lightly on the side of the table.
4. Place it straight down into the water.
5. Observe the height of the splash.
6. Now, hit the tuning fork harder on the side of the table.
7. Place it straight down into the water.
8. Observe the height of the splash.
9. Answer the lab questions.
